SACRAMENTO (May 8, 2017) -- About 200 youths representing about 40 groups belonging to the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color heard Sen. Holly J. Mitchell today offer words of inspiration. Afterward, smaller groups, including the one above with Tylo James, far right, a youth organizer with the Community Coalition in Los Angeles. Others in the picture from left are Kaya Buckley, Fernando Mosqueda and Miguel Sanchez.
"Because I represent you, I can't half step," Mitchell, D-Los Angeles, told the diverse gathering in support of the annual Free Our Dream event at a conference room on nearby K Street. "There should never be a question about me moving foward."
Mitchell also spoke in support of her package of bills to help reform the state's criminal justice system treats youths and young adults.
