July 31, 2018: VIDEO - Watch, listen to Sen. Mitchell’s excerpted remarks from film-tax credit press conference
BEVERLY HILLS -- Sen. Holly J. Mitchell, during a press conference in support of greater diversity in films, talked about how California's extended film-tax credit used language from her Senate Bill 951 to advance that effort. “I share the concern about the importance of diversity in front of the camera because we know those images represent how the world meets us, greets us and perceives us and how our children, in many instances, view themselves,” she told about 100 artists, media executives, fellow lawmakers and reporters. Mitchell also praised bipartisan support for the extension, including efforts by the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus. The event was sponsored by APILC, William Morris Entertainment and Endeavor Content.
