On Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, Sen. Holly J. Mitchell sponsored the installation of the Black Quilters Exhibit in the Capitol annex next to the governor’s ground floor office as well as a welcome reception for the artists in room 211. The seven quilts were provided by the Sisters Quilting Collective, African American Heritage Legacy and the Brick House Art Gallery. These were in a range of sizes. and represented moments and imagery paying homage to the legacy of the Black experience and expression.
