March 2024 Newsletter

Dear Neighbor,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well.

February was an exciting and event-filled month as my staff and I have been busy in the Capitol introducing an array of community driven bills regarding public safety, veterans’ issues and workers’ rights.  Moreover, my district staff and I have remained vigilant in helping constituents with their day-to-day concerns while visiting local communities, businesses and organizations to ensure that they fared well during our historic rainfalls.

Also, earlier in the month, I hosted a press conference where I was joined by Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, local elected officials, and personnel from the Brea Police Department to announce the introduction of SB 923, a statewide bill that will increase penalties for repeat theft offenders by re-implementing serial theft provisions that were eliminated by Prop. 47.  The bill was in direct response to the many complaints I have received from local business, constituents and community groups and I was proud to respond with SB923.

As always, I stand ready to serve you, and encourage you to contact my offices for assistance or with questions at (562) 406-1001 or visit https://sd30.senate.ca.gov/.

God bless,

Senator Bob Archuleta, Thirtieth Senate District
Chair, Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee

Out and About in SD30

Congratulations to Rivera Middle School on its recognition as a “Schools to Watch” awardee. I was honored to visit the campus and speak with Principal Ventura-Rincon and students.  As a designated California Schools to Watch recipient, Rivera Middle School joins a prestigious network of schools dedicated to fostering academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Year of the Dragon Chinese New Year 2024

I celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year at the Hsi Lai Temple, which calls the 30th Senate District home in the Hacienda Heights. Tens of thousands of people visit every year to ring in the Lunar New Year.

I also visited the City of La Puente at its Second Annual Lunar New Year celebration. I applaud them for their efforts in creating a community event full of joy, harmony, and inclusiveness.

I toured RH Peterson Co. upon its 75th anniversary in business as a manufacturer of American made high-quality fireplaces, barbecues, and outdoor products. Its headquarters has been in the City of Industry for 45 years, employing over 200 in the 30th District.

It was my honor to present a Senate Resolution to the City of Walnut on its 65th birthday. Attended by hundreds of residents and well-wishers, the celebration was a great event for the community.

Congratulations to the City of Pico Rivera for recently passing a resolution designating it as a Purple Heart City. In 2012 the State of California was voted as a Purple Heart state in recognition of the sacrifices of California veterans, especially those who were wounded or lost their lives in the line of duty.
