March 2025 Newsletter

Dear Neighbor,

I am honored to continue serving as your State Senator for California's 30th District. This month, we celebrate Women's History Month, a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of women in our communities. On March 10, I had the privilege of honoring Patricia "Patty" Yoon as our district's 2025 Woman of the Year. Patty's entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to community service have made a lasting impact on our region.

After years of advocacy, the Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument in Montebello is officially a California State Historical Landmark. This unanimous decision by the State Historical Resources Commission ensures that the monument stands as a testament to resilience and remembrance.

As we move forward, my team and I remain committed to addressing critical issues such as public safety, education, healthcare, housing, and veterans' seHonoring Patricia Patty Yoon for California 2025 Women of the Year rvices. Thirtieth Senate District’s Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument

Thirtieth Senate District’s Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument in Montebello Officially is a State Landmark

Recently the State Historical Resources Commission’s unanimously voted to designate the Armenian Genocide Martyrs Monument in Montebello as an official California State Historical Landmark.

This 56-year-old memorial holds deep significance for both the Montebello and Armenian communities, serving as a lasting tribute to those who perished and a symbol of resilience. My lifelong ties to Montebello have fueled my advocacy to ensure the monument receives the recognition it deserves.
I was honored to announce the distinction at the site of the monument with members of the Armenian community from Pico Rivera and Montebello, as well as other areas in Southern California.

This designation is not just about preserving history; it ensures that the Armenian Genocide and its lessons remain part of California’s historical narrative. It reflects our state’s commitment to educating future generations, combating historical denial, and honoring those who have endured persecution. Together, we are preserving history and forging a legacy for the future.

Honoring Public Safety at the Silver Shield Awards in Whittier

Honoring Public Safety at the Silver Shield Awards in Whittier

It was an honor to attend the 25th Annual Silver Shield Awards Banquet, presented by the Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce, where the outstanding officers, staff, and volunteers of the Whittier Police Department were recognized for their incredible service to the communities of Santa Fe Springs and Whittier.

I was humbled to receive the inaugural Public Safety & Community Partnership Award in recognition of my legislative efforts to secure state resources and restore public safety at Parnell Park in Whittier. Thanks to this work, the city will break ground this year on a transformational remodel and expansion of the park, creating a safer and more welcoming space for the community.

Congratulations to all the honorees this year as your commitment to public safety and service is truly inspiring. I look forward to continuing our work together to support and uplift the communities in the 30th District.

It was an honor to participate in the Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Luncheon Series, where I had the opportunity to share my legislative agenda and engage with community members and local leaders.

Honoring Patricia Patty Yoon for California 2025 Women of the Year

Senator Archuleta Honors Patricia "Patty" Yoon as the 30th District’s Woman of the Year

I was honored to join my colleagues on the Senate floor in recognizing the 2025 Woman of the Year honorees from across California during Women’s History Month. I am proud to name businesswoman Patricia "Patty" Yoon as the 30th District’s Woman of the Year, celebrating her remarkable contributions to both business and philanthropy.

Patty is the President of Yoon Family McDonald’s, overseeing 14 McDonald’s franchises across Los Angeles County. As the youngest applicant accepted into McDonald’s franchisee training, she purchased her first two restaurants in 1999, and now has four in the District.

Beyond business, Patty has been a pioneer in the wellness industry and a champion for her community, providing housing assistance, tuition support, and career programs for her employees while actively supporting schools, nonprofits, and first responders. Please visit my website to learn more about the 30th District’s Woman of the Year.
