Senator Bob Archuleta Leads Regional Rail Exploration Trip to Anaheim
As Trump Pulls $4B from California High-Speed Rail, Local Leaders Get Creative to Advance Transportation, Safety, and Economic Growth
WHO: California State Senator Bob Archuleta (D-Pico Rivera), Member of the Senate Transportation Committee and LOSSAN (Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo) Rail Subcommittee Regional transportation officials, city leaders, and local stakeholders
WHAT: Senator Archuleta will host a train trip and tour to the City of Anaheim to explore best practices in regional transportation planning and transit-oriented development (TOD). The visit will include stops at ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center), OC Vibe, and the Platinum Triangle, and the OC River walk, key examples of how rail infrastructure and TOD projects can transform communities, enhance safety, and boost local economies.
As California adapts to the loss of $4 billion in federal funding for High-Speed Rail, regional and state leaders are taking bold steps to secure funding for projects along the LA-to-Anaheim segment of the LOSSAN Corridor, where Metro link, Amtrak’s Pacific Surf liner, and BNSF Railway operate daily.
WHEN: October 24 from 9AM-2PM
WHERE: Train departs from Norwalk/Sante Fe Springs Train Station at 12650 Imperial Highway, Norwalk CA 90650 AT 9:05 AM to Anaheim or you can meet us there: Artic Station, 2626 E. Katella Ave. Anaheim, CA 92806 at 9:30 AM - Arrival and Tour Locations – ARTIC, OC Vibe, Platinum Triangle, OC Riverwalk
WHY: The Pico Rivera Regional Rail Station, a concept under active study by Metro, represents a major opportunity to bring enhanced passenger rail service, economic development, and climate resilience to the San Gabriel Valley.
The new Pico Rivera Regional Rail Station is under consideration as part of Metro’s relocation study for the Commerce Metro link Station, which must be moved to accommodate a planned bridge replacement. Located adjacent to the Rio Hondo, the new station would connect residents to parks, open space, and the broader bikeway network through the Rio Hondo Recreation Zone. Combined, these projects may qualify for Proposition 4 – Climate Bond funding, for which Pico Rivera is a priority city. “This is about vision and leadership,” said Senator Archuleta. “As Federal priorities shift, California cities must get creative, we’re showing how local partnerships can move forward meaningful projects that improve safety, mobility, and opportunity for all.”
VISIUALS: Elected officials and transportation leaders aboard Metrolink/Amtrak, Tour of the ARTIC multimodal hub and adjacent transit-oriented developments. Interviews.
