Senator Bob Archuleta

August 2026 Newsletter – Office of Senator Bob Archuleta

Dear Neighbor,

It is an honor to be back in Sacramento following our summer recess and to continue serving the residents of California’s 30th Senate District. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent our communities and remain committed to listening to your concerns and delivering meaningful results.

At the Capitol, I am focused on advancing legislation that supports our veterans and military families, strengthens public safety, improves our infrastructure, and promotes economic opportunity. As Chair of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, I will continue working to ensure those who served our nation have access to the benefits and resources they have earned.

During the recess, I was proud to remain active throughout our district – meeting with community leaders, recognizing outstanding residents and organizations, supporting local initiatives, and working with cities and community partners to secure resources for projects that improve our neighborhoods. My office also continues to assist constituents with state services and agencies.

Our work is about making a difference both in Sacramento and at home. I encourage you to stay engaged, share your ideas, and contact my office whenever we can be of assistance.

It is a privilege to serve you, and I look forward to continuing our work together to build stronger, safer, and more vibrant communities throughout the 30th Senate District.

As always, I stand ready to serve you. Please contact my office for assistance or questions at (562) 406-1001 or visit https://sd30.senate.ca.gov/.

God bless,

Senator Bob Archuleta, Thirtieth Senate District
Chair, Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee

Out and About in SD30 and Beyond

Investing in Pico Rivera’s Smith Park Aquatic Center

I was proud to join the City of Pico Rivera and community leaders for the groundbreaking of the Smith Park Aquatic Center Renovation Project.

I secured $8.5 million in state funding to help make this long-awaited project a reality. This investment will restore a beloved community resource for children, families, and residents for generations to come.

Thank you to Congresswoman Linda Sánchez, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and Assemblymember Lisa Calderon for your partnership and commitment to bringing this project to fruition. Together, we are making meaningful investments that strengthen our communities.

New Fencing Unveiled to Improve Community Safety

I attended the Rio Hondo Coastal Spreading Grounds Fence Replacement Project ribbon-cutting ceremony. It marks an important milestone for the 30th Senate District.

I am proud to share that the $935,000 in state funding I secured has replaced the chain-link fence that had been in disrepair, creating safety concerns and contributing to illegal dumping and trespassing along the Rio Hondo channel.

The new fence will help improve safety, enhance neighborhood protection, and support the well-being of communities between Montebello and Pico Rivera.

It was great to join city officials, community leaders, and residents to celebrate the start of this much-needed improvement.

Honoring Victims and Strengthening the Fight Against DUI

I welcomed to the Senate Floor Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) California representatives and family members who have lost loved ones to impaired driving. The recognition honored their advocacy and underscored the human cost behind the effort to strengthen California’s DUI laws.

The visit was in conjunction with a “Walk of Remembrance”, urging the Assembly Appropriations Committee to advance SB 907, my legislation to strengthen California’s DUI enforcement and sentencing laws for repeat offenders.

Working Together for a Stronger San Gabriel Valley

I was pleased to join my colleagues in the San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus to connect with local elected officials, community leaders, business partners, and advocates working to strengthen our region.

These conversations are invaluable as we work together to advance public safety, economic growth, and a better quality of life for our communities. Thank you to everyone who shared your insights and ideas. I look forward to continuing our partnership to build a stronger San Gabriel Valley for all.

Strengthening Community Connections in Montebello

I was proud to join the City of Montebello and the Montebello Police Department for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Police Community Resource Center.

This center will provide a valuable resource for residents, strengthen community partnerships, and create a welcoming space for meaningful engagement between law enforcement and the community they serve.

Congratulations to the City Council, Montebello Police Department, and everyone whose hard work and vision made this important investment in public safety and community connection possible.

Honoring Fallen Hero

I joined Deputy David Piquette’s family, friends, and members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to honor his life and legacy on the 20th anniversary of his End of Watch.

It was a privilege to recognize his extraordinary service during the memorial run and remembrance ceremony, where I presented his family with a replica of the Deputy David Piquette Memorial Highway sign and a California State Senate Certificate of Recognition.

As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy, David embodied courage, integrity, and selfless service. Through SCR 108, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

May we always remember Deputy Piquette and honor those who make the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities.
