Covid-19 updated resources for District 32 constituents

 

Drive-up, mobile testing sites are now available in LA County. You must make an appointment online; no walk-ups will be taken. Applications are only taken online at coronavirus.lacity.org/testing.

 

All City Halls are closed to the public until further notice. Each city and the county can be reached via phone and logging onto their individual web sites. Please see below for the phone numbers, web sites, and hours and days of availability of your local government. You may also contact Senator Archuleta’s District Office for Assistance by calling 562-406-1001 or sending email to senator.archuleta@sen.ca.gov.

 


City of Artesia:

All services requiring in-person visits or public counter assistance will be suspended or made available by phone, online or through email. Please visit the website at www.cityofartesia.us for details on specific services.

The Dial-A-Ride Transportation program will remain in operation for eligible residents.

Regular waste hauling, street sweeping, sidewalk and road repairs, and graffiti removal services will continue as usual. While ticketing for street sweeping will be suspended until April 19, moving of cars as you are able is still encouraged to maintain clean streets.

HOMELESS SHELTER OPERATIONS

The new Buena Park Navigation Center is still anticipated to open in June 2020. The City’s homeless outreach coordinator, City Net continues to refer people to the Fullerton seasonal shelter (now located at the Janet Evans community complex and the Bridges at Kraemer facility. 

 

On March 24, 2020, the City Council approved the “stay” of the 30-day stay ordinance. The City Council for the City of Buena Park hereby authorizes and directs that Section 19.552.110(A) of the Buena Park Municipal Code, or similar provisions in the Code which place limits on the consecutive days any person may rent or let a room, be suspended as to persons only. Such prohibitions as to firms, partnerships, corporations, associations, or other business entities shall remain in place. This order shall take effect immediately and to continue for as long as the “local emergency” declared by the City Council in response to the COVID-19 pandemic remains in effect.

Pathways of Hope in Fullerton is still giving out food.

 

ESSENTIAL CITY SERVICES (TRASH PICK UP/STREET SWEEPING)

EDCO continues to provide regular trash pick up. Street sweeping is still being provided by the City. The Police Department is not issuing citations for street sweeping violations. Any citations issued on or after March 9, 2020, will be waived. However, the City asks residents and businesses to be mindful of the schedule so that the streets can continue to be cleaned during this time.

 

INFORMATION ON TICKET ENFORCEMENT

On March 24, 2020, the City Council approved a moratorium on parking citations issued on or after March 9, 2020, and discontinues street sweeping enforcement during the local emergency. THis action does not waive or discontinue parking citations for other infractions such as red curb parking or illegally parking in disabled parking. This action took effect immediately and will continue until the local emergency ordinance ceases.

MEAL PROGRAMS AT SENIOR CENTERS

The Buena Park Community Center is currently closed. To help our seniors the following programs continue:

The Senior Urgent Transportation Program or Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Program will continue to operate taking seniors to and from their doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping trips and prescription pickups.  The program operates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am -2:00pm. There is a suggested donation of $1 each way but no one is turned down if not able to pay. The vehicle is cleaned and wiped down thoroughly after each ride. For more info please call (714) 236-3870.

The Senior Grocery Program comes to us from Second Harvest and provides canned goods for seniors on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 10:15am. Due to an increased need, we will be operating EVERY Thursday at 10:15am until this crisis is over. This program typically is an in person process but now is being distributed via drive-thru. The seniors will not need to get out of their vehicle to receive this food distribution. Proper safe handling guidelines and social distancing will be followed by staff operating this program. This Senior Grocery Program will occur of the following dates; April 2, April 9 and April 16. For more info please call (714) 236-3870.

The USDA Food Distribution Program comes to us from Second Harvest provides canned goods for seniors on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8:30am. This program used to be an in person process but now is being distributed via drive-thru. The seniors will not need to get out of their vehicle to receive this food distribution. The Congregate Nutrition Program by Meals on Wheels OC will be providing a frozen meal to seniors via drive through system. Seniors can pick-up 7 frozen meals on Tuesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm. This process will be repeated each week after that until the congregate lunch program can be restored. For more info please call (714) 236-3870.

The Home Delivered Meals Program by Meals on Wheels OC is continuing to serve its homebound seniors.  Please call for eligibility and availability of meals. Meals on Wheels OC can be reached at (714)823-3294.

Meals on Wheels of Buena Park is continuing its service to Buena Park homebound seniors Monday – Friday. They are on new clients at this time. Meals on Wheels Buena Park be reached at (714)995-5826.

The Buena Park Senior Activity Center continues to assist seniors during this crisis. Seniors can inquire about food programs by calling (714) 236-3870 or emailing seniors@buenapark.com.

 

EVICTION MORATORIUM

On March 17, 2020, City Council adopted a city law prohibiting evictions for tenants of residential and commercial properties unable to pay rent due to financial impacts related to COVID-19.

CITY MEETINGS

As a mitigation effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, Paragraph 3 of Executive Order N-29-20, executed by the Governor of California on March 17, 2020, allows the public to participate and address the City Council during the open session of a City Council meeting via live stream and/or teleconference only. The public can also contact (877) 853-5247 or (888) 788-0099, enter Meeting ID:469 868 230 and press the # (pound) key, to listen to the City Council meeting.

City Council and Planning Commission meetings will continue to be lived streamed through the City’s YouTube Channel.

The City has created two email addresses: ccpubliccomment@downeyca.org (City Council Meetings) and pcpubliccomment@downeyca.org (Planning Commission Meetings) where the public can submit public comment to be read into the record at a City Council or Planning Commission meeting. The email addresses are posted on the City Clerk’s and video streaming webpages.
 

The City of Downey transit services continue to operate for essential travel. All Downey Transit vehicles are being sanitized daily for public safety. If you do not need to travel, please stay home.

  3. LA County/City Elder Nutrition Program (1-800-510-2020 ) - The County and City of Los Angeles provide free meals to older adults age 60 and older who are impacted by COVID-19. Meals are provided either at distribution sites or home-delivered. An example of this would be the meal program at Manzanita (Steinmetz) and there’s also one in Whittier.
  4. New Horizons Caregivers Group (626-941-8100) - Serving food to the Hacienda Heights community members and individuals in need. 10am to 12pm Tues., Wed. & Thurs while supplies last until April 13th. 
  5. St. John Vianney Church (626-330-2269), food pantry open on Saturdays.

City of Hawaiian Gardens:

City Hall will be closed to the public until further notice. Essential Services are still being provided. For information call 562-420-2641 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. In line of CDC and public health orders, Montebello Bus Lines will be temporarily suspended and replaced by the Fiesta Taxi vans. This will be a FREE SERVICE at this time for essential public transit system service from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. City of Santa Fe Springs:

City Hall staff is open to receive phone calls 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and closed on Fridays.

For the week of April 6th, street sweeping will continue to clean city streets per schedule. However, for the time being, citations will not be issued.

 

City park facilities including restrooms, tennis, handball and basketball courts and playgrounds, are CLOSED until further notice pursuant to Los Angeles County’s “Safer At Home” order to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Users can still access outdoor park areas using appropriate social distance requirements.
