November 2024 Newsletter

Dear Neighbor,

As we approach the close of the year and the beginning of the holiday season, I hope this finds you and your families well. My team and I have been hard at work shaping our legislative agenda for the upcoming 2025 session, focusing on policies that will uplift our communities and create more opportunities for all.

During the past month, I’ve had the privilege of visiting many local businesses, schools, and organizations across the 30th Senate District. These visits serve as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of our communities, and they guide my priorities to ensure our district's needs are represented in Sacramento.

Thank you for your continued support and input as we work together for a prosperous future. I look forward to seeing many of you in the weeks to come as we celebrate the season.

As always, I stand ready to serve you, and encourage you to contact my offices for assistance or with questions at (562) 406-1001 or visit https://sd30.senate.ca.gov/

God bless,

Senator Bob Archuleta, Thirtieth Senate District

Veterans Day 2024

It was my privilege to attend many of the 30th District’s Veterans Day celebrations. The communities honored the brave men and women who have bravely and diligently served our country. We are deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice.

Southeast Gateway Line Groundbreaking

Congratulations to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority on the groundbreaking of the Southeast Gateway Line in the City of Artesia.

They were awarded $231M by the California State Transportation Agency for this historic project.

The 30th District’s Bellflower and Downey, as well as every city along this line, stands ready to welcome it because we know the development of a new metro line can have a profound impact on both economic development and transportation in our communities.

Foothill Transit Awarded $16.89M from State of California

I was honored to represent the San Gabriel Legislative Caucus and deliver the great news to the Foothill Transit Board that the state of California awarded them $16.89M to purchase 30 hydrogen-powered buses and expand bus lines to Cal Poly Pomona and Mount San Antonio College. As Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Hydrogen Energy, I understand the need to advance hydrogen technology at Foothill Transit that will support sustainable transit solutions benefitting communities across the San Gabriel Valley and beyond.

Columbia Memorial Space Center Gets New Addition

It was very exciting to welcome the Inspiration Shuttle, a full-scale mock-up and engineering prototype for all orbiters launched into space. It will stand as the centerpiece of a new 20,000-square-foot complex at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, featuring interactive exhibits and learning spaces. This initiative is a testament to the City of Downey’s enduring contributions to aerospace innovation and its commitment to inspiring future generations. I had the distinct pleasure to meet Ethel Lee, 98, who is the first African American woman to help physically build the first six space shuttles used by NASA. She worked at Rockwell's Downey facility.

Once completed, it will offer essential programs for youth development, healthy living, and community engagement that will benefit families for generations to come. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this vision a reality.
