Senator Bob Archuleta Statement Mourning the Death of Pico Rivera Resident Antonia Mendoza Chavez

SACRAMENTO, CA – California State Senator Bob Archuleta (D-Pico Rivera) released the following statement after learning of the tragic death of Pico Rivera resident Antonia Mendoza Chavez, who died after a fatal lightning strike while walking her dogs along the San Gabriel River Mid Trail on the morning of June 22, 2022.

“My family and I join the city of Pico Rivera and its residents in mourning the tragic loss of Antonia Mendoza Chavez. This disturbing incident reminds us that we must exercise extreme caution when monsoonal lightning storms and erratic weather patterns move through our region. Extreme weather patterns such as yesterday’s storm can come with little warning, making it vital for all of us to be aware of our surroundings during such times.”
